Peter Dickinson

Peter Dickinson (born 1934) is Professor of Music and Head of the Music Department at Goldsmiths, University of London. Born in Lytham St. Annes, Lancastershire, U.K., he went to Cambridge as Organ Scholar of Queens’ College and then spent three years in the U.S.A, first as a graduate student at the Juilliard School and then on the staff of the New York city Ballet and as a lecturer at Farleigh Dickinson University. On return to the U.K., he taught in London and Birmingham and from 1974 – 1984 chaered the music department at Keele University. In all periods he has been active as a pianist, notably in recitals, broadcasts, and recordings with his sister, mezzo-soprano Meriel Dickinson.

He wrote for the Verdehr Trio Hymns, Rags and Blues and retitled it "American Trio".
